Laura completed her training in Psychology in Hamilton, New Zealand, specialising in the application of Behaviour Analysis. Applied Behaviour Analysis provides the evidence-base for understanding why people do what they do, and teaches techniques that help people gain new skills and prevent challenging behaviour.
Laura has worked with children with autism spectrum disorder and their families since 2011. This has involved providing behaviour therapy to increase academic, social and daily living skills in the home, education and community settings. More recently, she has worked in special education services focusing on decreasing challenging behaviour in schools and early childhood centres.
Laura’s experience in special education services has also included working with children living with a range of challenges, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, learning disabilities and more. She has had significant experience working with children directly as well as coaching and training parents and education staff in behaviour support strategies.
Laura is passionate about empowering children and young people to develop the skills to participate fully in all areas of their lives.
