Fiona Darroch has worked exclusively with children and families for over 24 years in a variety of settings including as a school psychologist and as a Family Consultant in the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court of Australia. Her specialist area of expertise is working with children and their families across a range of presentations including attachment and behavioural issues, trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, learning difficulties and autism.

Fiona has presented at a number of national and international conferences to date; highlighting issues and exploring therapeutic solutions for families where a child rejects a parent and looking at the impact on families where grandparents are raising grandchildren.

Fiona is committed to assisting families to adapt to change and offers a post-separation planning, assessment and parenting-coordination service designed to assist families to manage the challenges that can arise out of parental separation. Primarily designed for parents who wish to avoid litigation, the service offers child-inclusive appointments whereby children are given the opportunity to express their views and concerns, which are then relayed to the parents. This can assist parents to develop child-focused parenting arrangements and to improve their communication and co-parenting skills.

Fiona believes that parenting arrangements should be individually tailored to suit the developmental needs of the child and that these will change over time as the child matures. Finding the best fit for both the parents and the child can go a long way towards avoiding future conflict and the stress that inevitably results when families become involved in family law proceedings.
