Dr Chanka Nanayakkara has dual training in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Rehabilitation. She has been working with the multi-disciplinary team at Educare since March 2015 with special interest in behaviour, learning and development. She also provides multi-disciplinary rehabilitation input privately for children and adolescents with Cerebral palsy, Spinal cord injury and disease, Brain injury and Joint hypermobility in a multi-disciplinary team at Beyond Boundaries Rehab. Dr Nanayakkara also administer Botulinum toxin at Warners Bay Private Hospital.  In all her specialist areas of practise, she works closely with National disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and schools.

Dr Nanayakkara completed her primary medical degree in Sri Lanka in 2000 and has been practicing in Paediatrics since 2001. She has worked and completed part of her specialist training in General Paediatrics in the UK before moving to Australia in 2006.She completed her training as a Paediatrician at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital in 2010. She then undertook further post-graduate specialist training in Paediatric Rehabilitation, which she completed in 2016.

Dr Nanayakkara has been working in the Northern Children’s Health Network since 2006, training in General Paediatrics and worked in Paediatric Rehabilitation since 2010. She worked as a Staff Specialist in Paediatric Rehabilitation from 2013 till 2017.
