Dr. Patricia Caruana is an accomplished General Neurologist and Neuroimmunologist with over two decades of medical experience. She obtained her medical degree in Germany with a thesis in Immunology from Friedrich-Alexander University in 2000.  Since that time, she has practiced publicly and privately in Australia.  Dr Caruana currently holds the position of Conjoint Lecturer for Neurology at Newcastle University, is an honorary staff member at John Hunter Hospital and works privately at MindCare.

From 2012 to 2016, Dr. Caruana served as the Neuroimmunology Fellow at the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic in Newcastle, working closely with the Human Medical Research Institute of Newcastle. She has published extensively in Neuroimmunology, General Neurology, and Immunology.

Her clinical interests span headache management, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, and movement disorders, with notable contributions in hyperacute and acute stroke care including involvement in stroke research.

Dr Caruana’s practice encompasses a wide range of general neurology specialties, including headaches, epilepsy, stroke, memory disorders, multiple sclerosis, neuro-immunological conditions, muscle disorders, neuropathy, movement disorders (including Parkinson’s disease), and neuropsychiatric disorders. She also offers specialized pregnancy counselling for patients with neurological disorders and conducts regular BOTOX clinics for various medical conditions.
